Overview

Introduction:

This program prepares you to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical aspects of a medical office. Upon completion, you will be prepared to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination, Phlebotomy, and EKG Certification test.  (140 hrs lecture + 160 hrs externship)

You will complete 140 hours of classroom time with an instructor and 160 hours of clinical externship.   To be eligible for clinical rotation,you must successfully complete the 140 hour program, submit to a thorough background check and drug screening.

Tuition:

  • $2800
  • Tuition includes textbooks, materials, and BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Exam fees are not included in tuition cost.

Workforce Solutions Texoma operates the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) which may be able to help you pay for tuition, books, and travel for up to two years. Eligible individuals include employees who are laid off or trade affected, displaced homemakers, and income eligible adults and youth. Entry Requirements

Prerequisites:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must provide proof of HS Diploma, GED or college transcript
  • Proof of immunizations required
  • Must pass criminal background check

Completed immunizations:

  • Tuberculosis (TB), Proof of either (within the past year):
    • a negative PPD skin test, or
    • a negative chest x-ray if skin test is positive or can not be taken
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox), Proof of either:
    • a physician documented history of the disease, or
    • a documentation of varicella immunization
    • or a titer test confirming immunity
  • Hepatitis B series, Proof of either:
    • a complete three-injection series of Hepatitis B vaccinations, or
    • a titer test confirming immunity (positive reading)
  • MMR series, Proof of either:
    • a complete two-injection series of MMR vaccinations, or
    • a titer test confirming immunity (positive reading)
  • Diphtheria Tetanus (within past 10 years)
Notes: A background check including criminal history will be done prior to start of class.  All monies will be refunded if you are ineligible to attend.
